Correct oil change on your Beta RR 125 LC

To keep your Beta RR 125 LC running reliably for as long as possible, a regular oil change is essential. We'll show you how to do it and what to look out for.

The importance of a regular and proper oil change is particularly high for 125cc models that are ridden for the A1 driving licence. The small amount of oil in conjunction with the relatively high revs that the engines achieve absolutely requires high-quality oil and a properly performed oil change with oil filter change. The latter in particular should always be carried out, as the additional cost of changing the filter is extremely low.
If the oil is of lower quality or the oil filter is changed irregularly (for example, every second oil change), the engine oil will soon have absorbed the maximum amount of impurities (e.g. clutch wear, etc.) and will no longer be able to pass them on to an oil filter, which will increase the wear of your engine immensely.
Changing the oil on the Beta RR 125 LC is not very difficult, so even beginners can do it without any problems. To have everything you need at hand, we offer you high-quality complete sets for the oil change.  The oil change interval for the Beta RR 125 LC is 3,000km, but at least once a year.

Check engine oil

Check the engine oil level regularly

Regular checking of the engine oil level is essential, as unscheduled oil consumption is an indication of impending engine damage due to wear. This is often due to worn piston rings.
To do this, read the oil dipstick on the oil filler plug. Unscrew the dipstick, clean it and then take the reading. The engine oil level must be between the lower and upper markings (see dots on the dipstick).

Step 1: Drain oil

To drain the engine oil, you should warm up the engine briefly (a few kilometres are enough). As the engine temperature rises, the oil flows better so that all engine oil is drained. If you change the oil when the engine is cold, oil residues and thus impurities remain, which can damage the engine.
To drain the engine oil, follow these steps:
  1.  Warm up the engine.
  2. Park the motorbike securely on a suitable surface and position your oil pan centrally under the oil drain plug on the underside of the engine casing.
  3. Loosen the oil drain plug and drain the oil completely. Make sure that your motorbike is as straight as possible. It is best to straighten it yourself after loosening the screw and hold it straight for 1-2 minutes so that the oil can drain optimally.
  4. After draining the engine oil, fit the oil drain plug with a new O-ring (included in our kit).

Step 2: Change oil filter

Place your motorbike on an even surface, preferably on a lifting stand (or a similar stand that allows you to stand straight). The motorbike must be in a straight position so that the oil level can be read correctly.

Fill the required amount of oil into your motorbike, after replacing the oil filter this will be 1 litre of engine oil. If your engine was still cold when you drained it, less oil can ensure the correct oil level due to oil residues in the engine. Adding oil above the recommended level will damage your engine.

Step 3: Fill in oil

Place your motorbike on an even surface, preferably on a lifting stand (or a similar stand that allows you to stand straight). The motorbike must be in a straight position so that the oil level can be read correctly.

Fill the required amount of oil into your motorbike, after replacing the oil filter this will be 1 litre of engine oil. If your engine was still cold when you drained it, less oil can ensure the correct oil level due to oil residues in the engine. Adding oil above the recommended level will damage your engine.

Notes

After use, motor oils belong in a waste oil collection point. For proper disposal, you can send us your used oil up to the quantity you purchased from us (according to the invoice) for free and proper disposal or hand it in personally (make an appointment in advance). The return has to be made in original or equivalent packaging without admixture of foreign substances, e.g. brake and cooling fluids or solvents. As waste oil is hazardous material, special shipping regulations apply! The costs for this shall be borne by the buyer. Improper disposal of waste oil endangers the environment! Care must be taken to ensure proper handling during the oil change.
